In addition to the mandatory basic program, the TUM Graduate School offers additional optional qualification programs that support doctoral students in their transferable skills, provide networks, expand their international and interdisciplinary horizon and provide career orientation.

Transferable skills support doctoral candidates to further develop transferable skills and expand their interdisciplinary experience.
TUM-GS offers transferable skills courses in the areas of ethics and responsibility, innovation and risk, business practices, systematic thinking, cultural competence, information and communication, personality and self-management, gender competence and other areas useful for interdisciplinary qualification and further career preparation for doctoral candidates.

International research phase, consisting of either:

• a research stay abroad at an academic institution or a research-based industrial company of at least two weeks,
• presentation of your research findings at international conferences outside of Germany in form of posters or talks,
• or joint research projects with international guest scientists at the TUM. These can also be invited to TUM by a group of doctoral candidates for the appropriate amount of time.
• In very exceptional cases, inviting international scientists to your thesis defense may also be funded as long as those scientists are part of your examination committee

TUM Graduate School provides all members a professional proofreading service for english articles to be submitted to international peer-reviewed journals or conferences during the doctoral research period.

Requirements:

• Membership in the TUM Graduate School
• Doctoral candidate has to be first author of the article
• Article has to be ready for submission
• Article has to be submitted to international peer-reviewed journals or conferences
