The TUM School of Medicine and Health offers doctoral candidates with a degree in human medicine or dentistry the opportunity to complete a doctorate in a medical project with the individual, structured doctorate to Dr. med. (dent.).
Particular emphasis is placed on the promotion of young scientists in medicine, especially through integration into research and implementation in clinical practice for the benefit of patients. A written doctoral thesis (dissertation) and an oral examination are intended to demonstrate the ability to carry out independent, in-depth scientific work.
A doctorate to Dr. med. (dent.) was not possible before 01.01.2014 in connection with the TUM Graduate School. This has changed due to the doctoral degree regulations of 01.01.2014. Now the medical doctorates are also located there, which also offers doctoral candidates all the advantages of a structured doctorate.
Doctoral candidates who have already registered their doctoral project with the TUM School of Medicine and Health before 01.01.2014 are still subject to the regulations valid at the time of their registration if the registration was complete and correct. The registration must be confirmed with the stamp and signature of the person in charge.
All doctoral candidates who have registered their doctoral procedure since 01.01.2014 are subject to the doctoral regulations valid at the time of registration. It is not possible to change to the previous regulations.
The German version of the Regulations for the Award of Doctoral Degree, the GCMH Regulations and the Supervision Agreement are legally binding and can be found here.
